Dr. Martin Luther King wrote: “Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?' But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right.”
In creating our movie “Orange Mound A Black Lecture Critical Race Theory” it took me three months of working day and night. I did not work or earn any income. I was asked did I have any commercial intentions regarding this film. In my case regarding this film my conscience told me to make this film because it is right. I won’t get any money and I will face challenges because I chose to tell the story of “Orange Mound.”
Orange Mound is a victim of Memphis White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism. In my case regarding this film let me explain about this film in a way a few may understand. My making this film is a matter of my “God.” In my case if we look at over a million people living in the mid-south area there are few people who have ability to make the film “Orange Mound A Black Lecture Critical Race Theory.” Although one my have the ability to make such a film one must have the faith, courage and the motivation to share such a story.
In my case we are not only making a movie, we developed this website whereas instead of asking someone to view a 3 hour movie we took time to break the movie down into various stories. We did not just create one movie, we created many movies that is a composite that shares the story of Orange Mound.
We are not only producing a movie we are developing an educational culture that enlightens others about a our great and dynamic Orange Mound history. We do not just have a movie our home in “Orange Mound” is an institution that is used to promote and help to develop our community. My prayer is that use become a vessel to make not just a better Orange Mound our aim is to create a better America.
